Bixente Eizaguirre, fifth generation grower founded the winery in 1992 after great efforts in establishing the Denomination of Origin for Txakoli de Getaria in 1989 making it the first winery built exclusively for Txakoli complying with all the dispositions of the law regarding Guarantees of Origin and according to the parameters required for a Chateau. Since its founding, Bixente Eizaguirre has been member of the Txakoli de Getaria Guarantee of Origin Control Board.
The Eizagirre family crafts Aidura from their small estate in the village of Zarautz, perched on the Basque mountains and yet a stone’s throw away from the idyllic Bay of Biscay and the beautiful and exquisite city of San Sebastian. There are twelve planted hectares dedicated to the Hondarribi grapes under the Denominacion de Origen Getariako Txakolina that comprises a privileged area of the Guipuzcoan coast that was granted its own DO status in 1989.  Today, young and talented Onditz Eizagirre runs the family’s estate along with her sister Itziar who belong to the fifth generation of Txakoli-makers.  Aidura translates to sea breezes in the Euskera language, as Txakolina has always been so intimately related to the sea.
